The MY1020 24V 500W motor is a brute-force high wattage DC motor intended for electric go-karts, mini ATVs, and high-performance scooters. At 24 V, it can output half a kilowatt (500 W) of mechanical power, which is double the typical e-bike motor, making it suitable for driving heavier loads or achieving higher speeds. The motor’s rated speed is about 2500–2750 RPM under load, with a maximum no-load speed around 3000 RPM. This balance of speed and torque yields approximately 1.8–2.0 N·m of torque at 500W output (theoretical calculation), giving it strong low-end pulling power. In practical terms, the motor can propel an adult on a go-kart or a loaded cargo bike with authority.

To handle the high power, the MY1020 500W features a robust design: four carbon brushes and a permanent magnet stator in a large vented casing. It draws considerable current – about 20–25 A under normal load, and up to ~26–27 A at full throttle – so it should be paired with high-capacity batteries and a suitable controller. Despite the higher current, the efficiency remains decent (estimated around 70–75%), thanks to quality copper windings and ball bearing support on the shaft.

This motor typically comes with a built-in mounting bracket or base, allowing it to be bolted down securely to chassis frames. The output shaft is equipped with an 11-tooth sprocket; depending on the supplier it may be for #25H chain (1/4″ pitch) or a #35 chain (3/8″ pitch) – both are common for motors of this size. The motor casing is heavier and larger than lower-power models, weighing about 4 kg (8–9 lbs) including the mount. Its dimensions are correspondingly bigger, roughly 100+ mm in diameter and length, to accommodate the larger armature and magnets.

In use, the 500W MY1020 motor provides very strong acceleration and hill-climbing ability for 24V systems. It is often used in DIY go-karts, aggressive electric scooters, riding mowers or carts, and even small electric boats. Builders appreciate its combination of high RPM and high torque in a relatively compact package. Proper ventilation or cooling may be needed if it’s run near peak power for extended periods. With a suitable 24V/40A controller, the MY1020 500W can transform a simple cart into a zippy and powerful electric vehicle.
