The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 is an official 8-megapixel camera designed for Raspberry Pi computers. It is built around the Sony IMX219 image sensor and connects directly to the Raspberry Pi through the CSI (Camera Serial Interface) port using a ribbon cable. The module supports high-resolution still photography and HD video recording, making it suitable for computer vision, robotics, surveillance, time-lapse photography, wildlife monitoring, and IoT projects.

The camera captures images at a maximum resolution of 3280 × 2464 pixels and supports video modes up to 1080p HD. It is available in both Standard and NoIR (No Infrared Filter) versions, allowing users to choose between normal visible-light imaging or infrared/night-vision applications.
